The Sky Upstairs

I remembered
the sky upstairs
in my room
up against
the roof of the world
And I'd fly out into
the Nowhere night
bathe in the stars'
twinkling light
Feel like a fairy
dancing on bubbles
held up by the grins
and smiles and dreams
of the Optimistic world
that I felt existed
outside the house
where I lived
I didn't know…

Celebrities Kids | Celebrity Obsession: Are our teens too star-struck?

Following the lives of teen celebrities such as Taylor Lautner or Miley Cyrus are part of the normal past time for the average teenager today. While on the surface this may sound like the sort of thing we'd expect a young person to be doing with their time, this behavior can also lead to some major psychological issues that have far-reaching effects. In a recent study of…

The Laws of Harmony by Judith R. Hendricks

Sunny Cooper is a pessimist. It could be the results of an unhappy childhood spent growing up in a commune in New Mexico. She struggles with her life and her relationship, having no preparation for either in the commune. My Interview at Shooting Stars Mag

Today I'm at Shooting Stars Mag, talking about my book, the inspiration for the fabulous cover (thank you,. Stacy!), and what song I feel most accurately captures the essence of Nora's Soul. Come check out the video of the song, which, in an odd twist, portrays the theme of Nora's Soul.

REVIEW: The Family Bones by Kimberly Raiser

I received this book over the holidays directly from the author. First, thanks to Kimberly for sending the book my way!

Before I had a chance to pick up the book (yes, I actually finished another book first) my husband picked it up because the cover and title intrigued him. (Note: my hubby doesn't spend his spare time reading..) He picked it up with the intention of reading a few pages, and wound up reading it cover to cover over an… Continue

REVIEW: The Comittment: Love, Sex, Marriage and My Family by Dan Savage

The first book that I read of Dan Savage's was "The Kid: What Happened After My Boyfriend and I Decided to Go Get Pregnant." Other than the incredibly long titles, I've enjoyed both of these two books.

The Commitment is all about Savage's relationship with his boyfriend and their neverending battle over whether or not to get married. Dan and Terry have been together for 10 years and are commited to one another, but both have specific… Continue

REVIEW: Killing the Shadows by Val McDermid

I experienced this novel via an audiobook. I must tell you though, that I listened to the whole first disc at least twice through. I had a heck of a time at the start of this one because of the accent of the narrator. Word choices and pronunciations are a little hard to catch at first, but once I got going, it became easier. In fact, I actually began to like the her and her accent!

Killing the Shadows is a story about a serial… Continue

REVIEW: Beat the Reaper by Josh Bazell

Funny book! An ex mob hit man in the witness protection program is placed at a hospital as a doctor. It's viewed as his punishment for all the people that he'd killed while a part of the mob. The story is a 24 hour period where Dr. Brown is trying to save lives in the hospital while also trying to save his own. One of his patients recognizes him and Dr. Brown knows that his cover has been blown and that he will need to beat the reaper!

I… Continue
