Hi all,

Please let me know what your thoughts are on this sampling of Audiobook MP3 Download Widgets. If you like them, I have more I can post. I also have the widget code available if you'd like to post on your blog or page. They are titles published by Hachette Book Group (where I work), thanks!

I do listen to audio books on the way to work. It is nice to preview the reader's voice as this makes or breaks an audio book for me. From a purely personal standpoint, I don't like the buy and download or the price for my blog.

Hi Anysia - Do you have the URL to the broken TOS page? My web team can't find the page that you're referring to.

Hi Anysia, thanks for contributing to the thread. All of the feedback is so very much appreciated. I will let Adgregate know about the broken TOS link. Please let me know if there is anything I can assist you with or follow up on in the way of questions on the Adgregate audio widgets. Thanks.

Hi Bethany, thanks so much for taking the time to post and reply. I really appreciate your feedback which will be shared with Adgregate. I think it's important the vendor hear direct from the book blogging community and think the feedback will be very much appreciated by them, too.

P.S. Are your sons feeling better?

anysia- I am not saying that whoever advertises is less likely to tell the truth, just that I feel funny about it. And don't really want to do it. It is personal, not something I am telling others they cannot or should not do. I was just giving my opinions to Kelly who asked for them. That is just the way I feel.

Hi Kelly, thanks for the clarification. I tracked down the Adgregate site from your information but their TOS link is broken so I'm waiting for them to fix that before I sign up (I've let them know). I did download the Hachette Group Case Study though.

Bethany (or anyone else of similar opinion), I'm curious if you think the reviews in newspapers have integrity? Those reviewers get paid (one of my friends does it and believe me, he does it only for the money). Publishers advertise in periodicals that librarians read for reviews (e.g. Quill & Quire, and every other similar periodical). As long a book blogger isn't taking money from a publisher/publicist/author to review a specific book I don't see how it affects the integrity of the reviews.

The rest of the venues for book reviews (e.g. newspapers, targeted periodicals) accept advertising from publishers and their readers seem to still trust the reviews, so why not book bloggers?

Sorry, I don't mean to sidetrack the comments with this issue. I'm just puzzled by the reasoning.

Even though they are really cool looking, I have a hard time putting things on my blog that make me look like I am getting paid. I do get paid in books, but I don't want anyone to think I am selling these books, or am affiliated with the publishers, or authors at all. It would seem to jeopardize the integrity of my reviews....wouldn't it? I am not sure...but this is the reason I don't have adds on my page.

I would be much more likely to use the widgets if the price was not listed at the top, and if the bottom shopping cart and "buy and download now" were not there. I would be fine with putting up an audio excerpt, that looked just like that, and when it reached the end it said, click her to purchase, or something like that.

Sorry for my rambling answer....I hope it helps. I do like the widgets, the sound quality is STUNNING!!!!

Hi Anysia, thanks so much for your feedback, very much appreciated. You're 100% right about giving away space with nothing in return. There is an affiliate opportunity for bloggers with the Adgregate widgets. If you're interested in learning more, I will ask Adgregate to email you with the affiliate information. Thanks again for your post.

They're nice, aesthetically speaking, though too wide for many blog sidebars.

I'm not sure how much uptake publishers will get since it assumes bloggers will give away advertising space for free. Most bloggers have some kind of affiliate links and these widgets would bypass those with no benefit to the blogger. There's a limit to my altruism, but maybe that's just me.

(I'm not, in any way, trying to shoot the messenger here. It just strikes me as 100% benefit to the publisher and 0% benefit to the blogger which is a balance that is destined to fail.)
