An interview with Stephen Ross Meier the author of KATKA
Stephen is such a nice person and good author; I enjoy his frienship and will I enjoy reviewing his work
he has what every author should have which is
be close to the fans
When you started writing?
I've been writing since college, so for about 15 years, but took a break and didn't write for about 5 years, as i sold my soul to the devil and worked in a job that i hated and took all my time.
but now i'm writing full time now.
What inspired you to write your book? Is it a real life influance?
I used to live in Prague, Czech Republic and came across a few girls who were going to be mail order brides and i just thought it was amazing. So I did some research and whoala!
Who are your favorite authors? Also do you have any author as your writing idol?
My favorite authors are: Charles Bukowski, Irving Welsh, Milan Kundera, Bret Easton Ellis, and Nick Hornby.
As for my idols in writing, i love the way Quentin Tarrantino writes dialogue, and love the storytelling of Bret Easton Ellis.
The most important question is Why do you write, do you have any point of view that you want to deliver?
I write because i love to tell stories, i love to take people on a journey, an emotional rollercoaster!
How you came up with the characters names?
The characters names came from two girls I met while i lived in Prague. Plus, I used to date a girl named Simona. As for the lead guy's character, GAVIN, not sure really...:D
What was the most beautiful words that a fan told you?
And your question is great, the most beautiful words that a fan told me? Oh wow...let's see, one of my friends told me that the way i describe the way Gavin stares at Katka, is the way she longs to be looked at. So that was pretty cool.
Finally,
What you looking for ward in your writing path?
I look forward to getting better and better as a writer and writing stories that stay with people, make them think. And hopefully taking my story, KATKA, to the big screen.
Also do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
The best advice i have for aspiring authors is to keep writing, and to never stop, and just be true to yourself. Also, write what you know.
