Zara and her friends knew they hadn't solved the pixie problem for good. Far from it. The king's needs grow deeper every day he's stuck in captivity, while his control over his people gets weaker. It's made him vulnerable. And now there's a new king in town.
A turf war is imminent, since the new pixie king, Astley, is moving in quickly. Nick nearly killed him in the woods on day one, but Zara came to his rescue. Astley swears that he and Zara are destined to be together, that he's one of the good guys. Nick isn't buying it, though Zara isn't as sure -- despite herself, she wants to trust the new king. But it's a lot more than her relationship with Nick that is at stake. It's her life -- and his.
In the continuation of Need we expect more lovey moments between Nick and Zara. This books delivers with the love moments but has a strange ending. I liked this book but it left me with a lot of questions and left me wanting to read the 3rd book. I guess as part of a series this is a good book but as a stand alone it is not.
Super short Summary:
Zara comes across Astley and saves him from a Valkyrie that is about to take him. He then saves her a few times. He and her father warn her about new kings coming and putting her friend in danger. A new king eventually comes and liberates the pixies that she locked up. Nick gets hurt in the struggle and is taken by the Valkyrie to fight in the end of the world war. (Yeah, this was weird to me as well)
She decides to turn into a pixie and asks Astley to kiss her. So at the end of this book she is a pixie and the queen. Astley is trying to get pixies to follow his (noble) cause. Nick is in a bed apparently alive and asking for Zara.
So as you can see not a lot happened but that's what happens in series some books are just needed to add more problem to the protagonist. Yet, I am sure (or at least hoping) that the next book leaves me without this empty feeling.
