FREE PRESS RELEASE SITES and HOW TO WRITE ONE!!! GRAB 'EM BY THE.....

(Can I say BALLS on here?  Oh well!  Sorry to offend anyone!)

 

The first thing you need to do is write a release!!! eHow had the best information:

 

1) All press releases should begin with contact information for you, your agent, publisher or public relations firm. Be sure to include all snail mail and email addresses as well as firm, personal and cell phone numbers.

 

2) At the top of the page, type FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE in boldfaced letters, followed by the day's date.

 

3) Type and boldface the title of the book in a point size that is at least two points larger than the body of the press release.

 

4) Write a dynamic first paragraph that is designed to hook your reader's attention. Space permitting, try to include some brief information about the book or chapter titles. Many booksellers, wholesalers and readers who are in a position to buy your book will determine within the first 10 seconds whether or not to keep reading. Make the first paragraph count!

 

5) Organize your thoughts into one or two paragraphs. The entire press release must fit on a single page.

 

6) Wrap up the press release with a sentence or two that summarizes your intent and what you want the reader to do.

 

7) At the end of the press release, reiterate general information about the book: the title, publisher and where the reader can go for more information about purchasing the book. It's a great idea to direct your reader to a web site where they can read excerpts from the book.

 

8) On the bottom of the page, center the characters ### to let the reader know that this is the end of the press release and there are no further pages.

Make Sure Basic Press Release Rules are Followed:

• Was your press releases written in third person?
• Does your press release focus on your announcement or news rather than selling something? Your press release should never resemble an advertisement or sales letter!
• Did you include a media contact name, email address and phone at the top or bottom of the press release?
• Did you include at least three links to your web site?
• Is there any way that you can make your press release more interesting, timely or unique?
• Is your press release more than 200 words and less than 500?
• Did you add ### to the bottom of the press release to signify the end?
• Is your headline clear and to the point? Can it be shortened without losing anything?
• Are all details of the "Who, What, When, Where, How and Why" covered in the body of the press release?

Why a Press Release may by Rejected:

1. They are written in ALL CAPS. They need to be written in regular sentence case and NOT ALL CAPS!

2. The press release is too short. You need at least 200 words. 400 is best.

3. No contact info. You need to list a "media contact" at the top or bottom of the press release. This includes a name and email or phone for the media to contact. This is essential.

4. Written as a sales pitch. Your press release needs to announce news, not pitch your product / service to the public. Please view other press releases on our site to get a feel for what kind of news can be announced.
