My mother told me this would be a good book for me when she read it for a book discussion at the library.  So, when I was at the library I saw it and thought it would be interesting.  I read it in four days.  I was amazed at how unfortunate they were, and how they judged everything by skirts (they considered skirts to be like their currency: a donut would by twenty skirts since each skirt was about twelve cents).  althoug, it was interesting to learn more about chinese culture (I am almost certian I want to do some things for chinses new year now.  I told mom we had bad fung-shway because our bathroom looked into the kitchen so we had bad spirits!)  The fact that Kim had risen above that and had an amazing furture from nothing was an inspiration to anyone.
