God's Defintion of Love
The first Bible verse that I ever learned was "God is love." The first song I ever learned to sing was "Jesus Loves Me." These ideas came from the Bible, and they are simple, yet profound. They help us to understand two important truths that everyone needs to know--that Jesus love us, and that God and Love are the same Spirit.
Jesus is God's definition of love, and he is everything that God wants us to be. First Corinthians 12:4-8 is a excellent description of what Jesus (Love) is like. It is God's will for every one of his children to be like him:
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails . . . ." NIV
