The Darkness of Perfection is the first of two books centering on Jayden Rogers and Nicholas Harrison and their love/hate relationship. The story is about a family, the Harrisons, who has ties to the mafia and deals in human trafficking. Jayden i s a third generation modern-day slave who is sold the day she was born to the youngest Harrison son, Nicholas when he was eight years-old to become his wife once she reaches maturity. Jayden’s mother rescues her when she is six and she grows to maturity living a normal life full of love and expectations for her bright future, forgetting everything from before.
Nicholas loved and cared for his young friend, not comprehending the ugliness of his family’s occupation and is devastated when Jayden escapes. He grows into a cold, hard man losing all sense of compassion until he unexpectedly stumbles across Jayden twelve years later. He kidnaps her and draws her back into his world determined to make her fulfill the contract made between their fathers so many years before.
TDoP centers on their battle of wills as Nicholas works to break Jayden’s spirit and mold her back into the sweet, naïve girl he remembers who looked up to him with the devotion of an innocent child. While Jayden fights to keep her identity and reconcile her feelings for a young Nicky who made her feel safe as a child to the monster he has become. At the climax of this battle, they’ll find there are other forces at work that have their own agendas regarding their relationship which leads to startling revelations that set the stage for the concluding sequel.
