Our priority should be encouraging our kids towards self-awareness, NOT college. Do you agree?

Boy: It's sad that we are basically forcing our kids to go to college and make it seem like if they don't go, they are failures.

Girl: I agree. I think we should encourage our kids to find what they want to do instead of telling them what to do.

Wise one: Society has misplaced their focus. Like you said, we should focus on encouraging our kids to know what they want to do in their life and support them in that choice. So many college students participate in heavy drinking, party, drugs, sex, etc. If college was their own personal choice, why would they waste their time in negativity if they are passionate about their school work? Because they aren't passionate about their school work. They were, in a way, pressured by parents, peers, and society to go college like everyone else. They didn't take time to study who they were and what they actually wanted. But I don't just blame society, but our kids as well. Its our obligation to take time to know who we are and what we want in our lives, regardless if we have someone encouraging us to do so.
