Purchased Power is a superbly crafted out of the gate novel for this first time author. It captures and more importantly keeps your interest through the entire piece. The adeptly depicted world locations, hotels, streets and back alley venues put you right in the middle of all the action. I have been to many of the places described and the wonderful sights sounds and smells readily came back to me.
The cast of characters is well constructed and not overdone in their roles. If you have not already learned in life that you can trust no one, Mr. Chen confirms it explicitly.
Could John Moore become the series hero that Dirk Pitt was for Clive Cussler? I hope so.
The ending for me was tremendous, quick and gut wrenching, contrary to the riding off into the sunset and living the happily ever after theme.
