I'm a senior now and in my english class we have to read so many books and pass so many tests on that book to get all the points needed towards the class. Many of you may remeber doing this in middle school or maybe even elementary school. It really does not bother me because I absolutly love reading. The thing I do not like about it is that they only give you certain books to read so you are limited to what you can read and many of the books does not spark to much interst. another thing is they do not always give people a good amount of time to read the book in time to take the test. Lots of people read at different paces whether it be for enjoying the book or simply becuase they need to read at a slower pace to uinderstand it, we all read differently. Teachers, or the program set up by others itself, Does not take in account to all the different factors that are present. They just slap some dates around and choose rndom books and make random test that take the fun out of the whole process. This makes certain kids in school want to read less. They also do not take into account the differnt lengths of the books either. Were these people thinking when they put togetehhr this program?
Is there any way this can be changed?
teachers should really sit down and actually put thought into this program or by thkke end of this semster none otf the students who do not usually read will ever want to read again.
