There's one month to go before the February 26 debut of my new supernatural thriller Season of the Wolf.

Early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. TT Zuma at Horror World.org started his review with this: "This might be the most ambitious novel Jeff Mariotte has ever written.  Aside from a large cast of characters, Jeff has managed to work in the politically charged theme of climate change (as well as what may be a subtle commentary on recreational gun usage) in a tightly plotted thriller that pits man against nature (in the form of battles with deadly hybrid wolves), and man against man (in the form of tracking down a perverted serial killer).  If that isn’t enough to whet any dark fiction fan’s appetite, I should also mention that Mariotte has inserted a supernatural element into the tale that complements the action without overshadowing it.  Yes, there’s a lot going on in Season Of The Wolf, but we are in the hands of a pro and Mariotte pulls it off spectacularly!"

That review closes with this generous summation: "Season Of The Wolf will go a long way to further Jeff Mariotte’s reputation as one of today’s best writers of horror and dark fiction.  It is highly recommended."

Rebecca Lovatt at Arched Doorway.com wrote: "Season of the Wolf is full of twists that will surprise readers time and time again. With his rich use of description, Mariotte has created a story which will grab the attention of readers and will have them hooked until the very last page; hoping for the survival of characters that they will come to love, even when the odds are against them."

Over at Goodreads, Lori Spier wrote: "I could hear echos of Steven King and Dean Koontz while reading Season of the Wolf and, for this genre, there's no better praise than that."

On February 1, I'll be announcing a big Season of the Wolf contest, with some great wolfy prizes. Stay tuned for more!
