It's a sad day when your two dogs get into a vicious fight with Pepe le Pew. Last night I let my yellow labs out for the last time before bed. While I was preparing my bed, I head a strange popping nose outside my window. Then, I smelled the stink that was all too familiar to me from living out in the country. Skunk...I ran to the door and called the dogs. They both came running but my girl couldn't see. She was foaming at the mouth, bleeding, vomiting and blind. It was a very traumatic night for all three of us. I quickly had to get into high gear and begin the washing routine, they were so upset to have the rude awakening from an ice cold hard stream of well water coming from the garden hose. Ugh. The poor pups spent the night outside on old blankets for the first time in their lives. Distraught, sick, depressed and very stinky, they are extremely subdued today. I'm off to the store to buy ten oranges to put into the blender with some dog shampoo and cinnamon. Hopefully this bath concoction will be more effective than the hydrogen peroxide/baking soda bath I gave them last night. I too am exhausted and depressed, and also, sick, from the horrible smell in my nose, on my clothes, all through my house...on the front and back porches...yikes, what a night.
