*Spoilers alert! Don't read unless you have already read 'the named' which is the first in the series!*
The Goddess of Chaos was infuriated. Marduke, her beloved, have been killed and she was devastated. She wants revenge on the very boy who destroyed her lover, who was none other than Ethan. Matt was trained by Ethan but after months, his powers were yet to appear. He was in huge doubts on his capability. Could it be that all was a mistake and he was not one of the named after all?
Arkarian had decided to go on a mission with Isabel, in place of Ethan. He knew that the Goddess of Chaos would be in rage and it would be terrible if Ethan landed in their hands. Isabel, on the other hand, was thrilled. Trouble then unravelled when Arkarian was captured and being tortured by the Order. He had been taken into a dark realm and it was up to Isabel and Ethan to save him. Unfortunately, Lorian, the only immortal they know forbid them to cross over and without his help, they can't save Arkarian.
Then, Isabel and Ethan secretly managed to ask for a few powerful people's help to open a portal. Unfortunately, Matt jumped in at the last moment and entered the dark realm along with them. Now the stakes are higher, without the three of them, the Guard would be thrown into a huge disadvantage. And as they travelled through the dangerous world, their greatest fear were seeked. Would they successfully save Arkarian and return safe and sound?
In this second book, I could feel that the plot was turning fast to prepare readers for the final war at the third book. I loved the action throughout and it was nice to see a bit of romance here and there. Still, I repeat: Hugely recommended!
