M.R. James was probably the finest ghost story writer ever. I have all his stories in wonderful paperback collection. My favourite is "Whistle, and I'll Come To You, My Lad."

Are there any other M.R. James fans here?

Hi Lloyd. Thanks for your comment. Yes, I am on Twitter, and here is my page: https://twitter.com/Scouselad8

Yes, I love "Whistle, and I'll Come To You, My Lad" too. Wasn't too impressed by the BBC TV play which starred John Hurt though. James was the master of the ghost story, wasn't he? In my recently published Kindle horror collection, HORROR STORIES (now available on Amazon), I have given a nod or two to the old traditional ghost story. "Casting The Runes" was the inspiration for the terrifying movie NIGHT OF THE DEMON, wasn't it? One of my all time fave black-and-white films. As regards what I am reading at the moment, well, once I finished Rod Stewart's autobiography (which is very good), I will be starting a novel called APARTMENT 16, by a new British writer called Adam Nevill. By all accounts he is very good, and this one is supposed to be about a haunted apartment. Happy reading, Alan,

One of my top favourites is 'Whistle' - and Casting the Runes, the Stalls of Barchester,...definitely a fan - and of Sheridan le Fanu, who in a sense is James's Master. Have you seen this site? : http://www.thin-ghost.org/ - I think it is rather fine, and also http://www.mrjamespodcast.com ; I think I met them on Twitter - are you on Twitter, by any chance ?
