The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

This book was very well written. Though only about half of the book was dialogue, the book was interesting throughout. Katniss's thought processes were very unique to watch. How her decisions were based on her experience from District 12. Her survival skills were incredible. And her connection to Rue and Peeta was tangible.
I liked how you got a little piece of some of the other tributes. Just enough for you to connect that it is wrong for all these children to be dying...but not enough for you to feel bad when they die.
The story was gruesome. But that's how it had to be to get across again how awful it was that this government is doing this to the children. I have a deep down hatred of the government running Panem at this point. Which is good - because I can really relate to the struggles that Katniss has regarding the government.
I thought the end of the games was great - I thought it was a sweet way to end the games. However, the last few pages of the book had me feeling sad. I cannot wait to see what happens and what flourishes in the next installment. Katniss and Peeta have been through enough, it seems unfair for them to go through anything else -- but there are 2 more books, so I'm sure they're in for much more!
I definitely recommend reading this book. And I'm super excited to see the movie in March! I hope they do the book justice!!!
