The Information Officer by Mark Mills

The Information Officer is set in Malta in 1942, during the second world war where Max Chadwick has been sent to boost public morale. But when it is brought to his attention that someone has been killing the local women and that it seems to be a British soldier, his life becomes more endangered than during a Luftwaffe night attack.

I enjoyed this book but was disappointed to find that the person "Whodunnit" was not the person I thought it was going to be, and that essentially ruined the book for me, which is annoying because it was all my own fault.
