In a society where unwanted teens are salvaged for their body parts,
three runaways fight the system that would 'unwind' them.

The war is resolved, but with an agreement so cruel that it would affect the whole world. The Bill of Life states that human life may not be touched from the moment of conception until a child reaches the age of thirteen. However, between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, a parent may choose to retroactively 'abort' a child on condition that the child's life doesn't 'technically' end. The process by which a child is both terminated and yet kept alive is called 'unwinding.'

Connor's parents had secretly decided to get rid of him for good, after all those fights and troubles he had caused in school. So how did Connor know? When he found three plane tickets for a vacation on Thanksgiving at Bahamas. His father, mother and his younger brother. But none for him. And that was when he plotted his escape with Ariana, the girl he loved. But at the last minute, she changed plans. Backed out for short. So, Connor was all alone. Abandoned. And he would be totally responsible for his own survival.

Risa had no parents. She had been abandoned but had been raised in an orphange where she found her talent in playing music. Until one day, where she was told that the orphanage can't cope with too much children. Costs are high. And she was signed to be 'unwind' to save costs. She was sold like a piece of trash.

Lev had known of his unwinding long before. It had been meticulously planned before his birth. He is a tithe, a strict religion, where ten percent of everything was practically donated to the society. His family paid tax punctually. And they sacrificed Lev as a part of it. Unfortunately, Lev's different. He was told from young not to fear being unwind. He almost even embrace his destiny. Until he found others like him, who told him that life was something he has control of.

These three teens desperate for another chance in life has a second hope. They met others like them, but strong bonds had tied them together right from the start. The three met on the road to being unwinded. They escaped. And what awaits them was a tough journey until they turned eighteen. Where they could finally have control of their lives, plus their body parts to go along with it.

A book that would keep anyone rooted from the very start to the end, to find out the fate of the three teens marked for death. And if you are having second thoughts about reading this book because of the blood and everything during the 'unwinding' process, don't worry even a bit. Because it wasn't that gruesome at all. As I can say for the ending, I was very pleased with it. It was as perfect as the plot itself. Recommended to guys who seldom read.
