Okay, I'll do my best to walk you through it.

Go to your blogger page and sign in if you aren't already signed in.

At the top right, you'll see a command prompt "Design".

Click on that.

That takes you to a page with Your Blogs - Template. 

On the right you'll see a menu.

Click on "Layout" on that menu.

That takes you to the layout of your blog. You'll see several places where you can "Add a Gadget."

Click on Add a Gadget.

You'll get a flyout menu.

It will probably be open to "Basics"

Scroll down until you see "Followers." (They couldn't just call it Google Connect, that would be too easy!)

Click on add Followers. Now view your blog and you should see the gadget for Google Connect.
