Thank you for welcoming me to Book Blogs! I have to say, your blog post is so, so true. Although I haven't gotten to the agent-finding stage (yet) I hope so soon.
Find Lust For Stories's blog, Twitter, Facebook page (which unfortunate is in the process of renovation.
Agh, an agent? I've spent the last three years and one-hundred thirty-seven rejects trying to get an agent. The whole process is a nightmare! I tweaked my query, researched, cried, tweaked somemore, emailed, mailed, cried... Then I just decided to self-publish. I know I'm not the only one that is agent-challenged, so I would be excited to follow you on your blog. I know like many other writers, the story never stops at one. It seems that once I opened the creative floodgate my mind wouldn't shut off. So they may not want my first book, but whose to say I can't find an agent to take one of the others...
I think I forgot to leave you my blog address: http://vvtaylor.blogspot.com. Again, I really love your site and will be visiting it a lot. Just glancing over some of what you wrote gives me great ideas! Wow!
So what do new authors who have published an ebook novel on Amazon which has just had a top five gold star rating from the one person who has bought it this month do to let other people who love the epic fantasy genre know about its existence? I want reviews but I don't want to pay for them - that seems akin to vanity publishing. I hate to sound negative but I just wanted to get my novel 'The First Warrior' published then let it sell itself. I don't have the natural ability to sell myself, I am the strong silent type, so how do I publicise my trilogy? I am about to publish the second book on Amazon but with litle hope it will sell, not because it is no good, I have come to realise that the content alone is not enough but I don't want to pay for glossy covers and marketing hype, so what do I do? Can a novel succeed on its merits?
Thanks for the welcome! You have a great site. I'm going to try the agent route for my next book - like you, I want to experience both. I'm now following you!
H Deidre. Thanks for the welcome. Wish I knew about your agent challenge business about 18 months ago. Unless you're mega famous, it really is a challenge. Karen Bentley
