10,000 words amazed me too, especially since I was typing on the computer, instead of my usual long-hand. I am hoping, like most this book will be good.  I wrote a children's book in high school as a project and sent it off and the publisher liked it, if the illustrations were done professionally.  Back then, didn't have the money to move forward, but it was nice to have the letter to add to the memory book - LOL.

Time will tell.

Goodness me, 10k in one day! I ended up having to put my beloved first novel in the drawer somewhere into the ninth draft. My second novel is much stronger, because I made all of the mistakes in my first one as I was learning. At a certain point, it became easier for me to prepare a meal from scratch rather than pick out all of the burnt pieces. That's been my experience at least, but I'm glad I had that mess-up novel. It provides a good contrast to what I'm doing now, got me a literary agent, and helped me nail down my genre (I switched from lit fic to YA)
