Sure, I'd love to be your new BFF! I've written two YA's I'm currently trying to market. For the nonce, I'm heavily into promoting my ebook See Mommy Run currently on Amazon. I began a contest yesterday which will run the month of June in which I'll GIVE A WAY a gorgeus new Kindle Fire for the best advice a reader has for my protagonist, Margie McDougal.
May i link my contest to your blog? Thanks, Laura Kennedy p.s. I also have a Facebook page.

Thanks for the welcome! Things are really finally starting to click for me but, I know I still have a long road ahead! HAHA, well thanks for stopping by! Loved your blog and you now have a new Linky follower!
Ooo, pretty site, you guys! Looks like you're very busy. =) My Celtic-mythology-meets-the-modern-woman book is "YA for grown-ups" so if you get a chance you can check it out at www.jodimcisaac.com or Amazon. Thanks for saying hi! - Jodi
Ranting is totally okay! Everybody's got to get out their frustration somewhere. (:
Personally, I don't think it's distracting. I think it fits the theme of your blog and the look you guys were going for. I've seen some distracting backgrounds before—yours isn't one of them.
That being said, I don't think that person was trying to be as rude as they might sound, precisely. I mean, whoever he/she is, that person is probably visiting dozens sites and writing dozens of emails, and is trying to do it in the fastest way, so they probably didn't realize they were being a little brisk. Also, everybody likes their own monkey. (Weird saying, I know. My mom says it all the time.) I just mean that everybody likes their own thing. I have that cover blog, so I know that's especially true. I'll think something is just about the most gorgeous thing to ever exist, and someone will comment "Ehh. I don't really like it." So while you guys and I love your background, whoever that person is just doesn't really like it, and that might be why he/she finds it distracting. That person might just be trying to help, in their own way.
Hope this helps a little! And doesn't overload your profile by being so long. (:
